How we handle Criminal Law
Spencer Freeman’s first job following admission to the bar was as a criminal prosecutor for the City of Tacoma, prosecuting misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes, gaining both trial experience as well as negotiating experience. Between 1997 and 2000, he worked at several small firms working criminal defense cases, including managing public defender contracts for the City of Auburn and the City of Federal Way.
During Mr. Freeman’s career, his passion for criminal law has never left him. He currently maintains a small select inventory of high-level felony criminal defense cases. The purpose of keeping the number small is to ensure time and resources can be committed to each case. The firm’s goal is to be successful at trial in every case. While not every case should go to trial, the steadfast commitment to trial preparation enables proper resolution for those cases that should resolve short of trial.
Mr. Freeman has successfully handled every type of criminal case, from driving under the influence to murder. He has a passion for helping people. He also has a passion for ensuring that the system works as the Constitution requires, allowing every person a fair chance to defend themselves and keeping in check those in powerful positions such as law enforcement and prosecutors.

After practicing with a downtown Seattle firm, Spencer Freeman opened the Freeman Law Firm, Inc. in Tacoma, WA in 2005 after the birth of his first son. Over the course of time, the Freeman Law Firm, Inc. has adhered to the needs of its community, both locally and contacts nationally. These needs have included litigation in several different areas, including Business Litigation, Copyright Infringement Litigation, Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice, First Party Bad Faith Litigation, Criminal Law, as well as Administrative Law. Mr. Freeman’s intent was and is to make those skills he has learned in his career and his passion for trials accessible.
